Amakakpabo takes over as Enyimba coach
Baraje, Odigie suspended
The management of two-time African champion, Enyimba Football Club of Aba has placed head coach, Zakary Baraje and his assistant, Monday Odigie on indefinite suspension. Erstwhile second assistant, Imama Amakakpabo, will take charge of affairs on a temporary basis. The decision followed a poor league form of the six times league champions.
The loss against local rivals Abia Warriors signaled the looming action and two successive league losses and crashing out of CAF Champions League were an embarrassing that the management could no longer stomach.
Baraje was appointed head coach in December and now he is on his way out of the club without an official decision made yet.
“Coaches Baraje and Monday Odigie won’t be part of the technical crew in our next match. They have been suspended by the club indefinitely but no official word yet. The move is because the team failed to win at FC Taraba, and even played poorly. Plus the fact that they’ve done poorly since the season started.Remember the team lost at home to Abia Warriors and after that game, the club management handed them the ultimatum to win in Taraba or face the consequence which is what has now happened,” an Enyimba insider told to supersport.com.
